Rooftop Extension and Renovation in Central Paris
This rooftop extension of a building in the heart of Paris required the complete removal of the existing roof. Several apartments were renovated with a shared vision: simplicity, white walls, wooden floors, and functionality. Intended for rental, a balance between construction costs and quality has been achieved, enhancing rental appeal. The roof was entirely removed, and a new timber-framed storey with standing seam zinc cladding now forms the fifth floor of this 19th-century building, accessible via the extended existing lift. The new volumes offer remarkable habitability and constant daylight throughout the day. The entire façade was meticulously restored, preserving the building's characteristic architectural details. Adjoining walls were insulated from the exterior.
